I work in four general areas: Web Design & Development, Photography, Graphic Design, and Computer Education. I am based out of Portland, Oregon and I work both locally and nationally.

Web Page Design and Development

I believe that Web Design and Development is a collaborative effort. Throughout the design process, I work directly with you, discussing your goals and ideas and sharing mine in order to ensure that the product I am building is exactly what you are looking for. I work on a wide range of web design projects, from basic informational sites to full-blown ecommerce sites that allow you to sell your merchandise online.

Some examples of what I do:

  • Custom designed sites with personalized graphic design – I will take you through the entire process creating a space on the web for you. From buying a domain name and securing a host to designing the website and adding the information that you would like to display.
  • Website re-designs and upgrades – If you currently have a website and would like a new, fresh look or a completely different feel, I do that too. It can be something as small as a color change or as large as a complete overhaul.
  • E-commerce sites – I build complete database-driven e-commerce sites with easily navigated control panels that let you add, edit, or delete your products without paying someone else to do it.
  • Web Writing – I will gladly write the content of your site, upon request. With training in prose, persuasive, and creative styles, I write in a professional, concise, and conversational style.

Photography

The subject material and composition of my photographs range widely. I shoot multiple formats and always look for a fresh way to capture my subject. I often use my photographs as base images for my graphic design projects. Many of my photography assignments also help me to balance the time I spend in front of a computer with time spent outdoors, actively pursuing a specific shot, or exploring the photographic possibilities around me. My specialties:

  • Digital/Film – I shoot both traditional film and digital, black and white, color, 35mm, and medium format, and high-quality digital photographs.
  • Macro Photography – My macro photography is characterized as extreme detail close-up photography with an emphasis on very sharp focus and brilliant colors and patterns. Most often, I shoot flowers with macro.
  • Nature and Landscapes – As I travel, my eye is frequently caught by nature’s striking contrasts, beautiful arrangements, and strong aesthetic appeal. These attributes are often the subjects of my landscape and natural photography.
  • Commercial – I shoot Still Life/Product photography in a digital format at high resolution settings and perform the post production necessary to ensure the photo is either web-ready and/or print-ready.

Graphic Design

I offer a wide variety of graphic design services for personal or professional use. I have listed only a small selection of the projects that I do. If you need graphic design work completed and are unsure if I would work on the project, contact me for more details.

  • Photograph Manipulation – I work with images in digital, print, transparency (slide), and negative formats in order to do photograph enhancement, touch-ups, restoration(via a digital file of the original image), special effects, alteration, and more.
  • Invitations and Greeting Cards – I create custom wedding and all-occasion invitations and greeting cards using a wide range of material, including my original photographs, supplied images, and custom graphics.
  • Business Supplies – Logo, business card, brochure, flyer, and event poster creation are all services that I offer.
  • Advertisements – If you are looking to increase the visibility of your business, I create high resolution ads for print in magazines, newspapers, poster-sized advertisements and more. I also build animated and static display ads for use online.

Computer Education

One of my favorite aspects of working with technology is teaching and encouraging others to learn about the creative and productive power of computers. With my degree in computer science and my background in teaching computer-based art, I offer a wide variety of services relating to learning the computer itself.

  • Lessons – I give basic and personalized instruction on the use of the computer including topics in Photoshop, InDesign, design theory, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations, Internet and email, web design, and more. If you would like to learn more about a certain aspect of your computer, or many, this is an excellent way to do it. I speak in plain English and am an experienced, enthusiastic instructor.
  • Troubleshooting – I offer troubleshooting services for computer hardware and software issues.
